Hi Lee,

I'm happy to let you know that Meshery has been accepted into the DigitalOcean Open Source Credits Program!

I noticed that your DigitalOcean account doesn't have a billing history, which prevents us from determining your current monthly usage. To start, we'd like to offer you $1000 in cloud credits. This offer includes yearly renewal and extension options based on your continued participation in the program. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss this further.

While we're enthusiastic about supporting the open source community, we do have a few deliverables for the program in exchange for the credit grant. For now, we kindly ask that you:
  • Include a DigitalOcean logo and a link back to our site on your project's website and/or Git repository. This helps others discover DigitalOcean through your project. You can find the attribution guidelines here and information about our referral program here. Here are a couple of examples: Git Repo and Website.
  • Mention our sponsorship on social media using the hashtag #DoforOpenSource and by tagging DigitalOcean in your posts.

Looking ahead, we would appreciate it if you could share your experiences using DigitalOcean with the broader open source community. This could take several forms, such as:

  • A tutorial demonstrating how to use your project's technologies with DigitalOcean resources to build a sample application. See example
  • An architectural overview of your project's setup on DigitalOcean. See example.
  • A developer success story video. See example.
  • A case study.  See example.

Please let us know if you have any questions or if this initial offer works for you. We're excited about the possibility of collaborating with you on this program.

Best regards,
Oliver Mensah, DigitalOcean

Hello Lee and team,

I trust this email finds you well. It's been a while since we accepted your project into our program, and we haven't heard from you yet.
I'm just getting in touch to find out if you are still interested in the program.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Hi Oliver,

We fumbled the ball here. But, in partnership with you, we’d like to pick up the ball and run with it.

I will find and follow up on the suggested partner activities mentioned in your other email tomorrow. In the meantime. I want to alert you to an opportunity to partner on the announcement of the Meshery Academy, the project’s new (and the CNCF’s first and only) certification for open source contributors to validate their skills and certify their ability to impact their project, Meshery. The certification is entitled, Certified Meshery Contributor. We will be announcing on the CNCF blog soon.

This certificate will be part of an academy and replete with not only Meshery content - but much more than that - a broad spectrum of native content. I’ll explain more tomorrow as we invite you all to have your own DigitalOcean learning paths, challenges, and certifications, too, using this academy platform as a venue to espouse DigitalOcean usage, and offer tutorials on DigitalOcean services.

Talk soon,
- Lee

Hi Oliver,

I’d like to walk you through what the academy is and how you all can use it to get additional eyes on your tools and your content into another venue in the community of ~10,000 cloud native engineer here.

What time zone are you in? Are you available today?

Hi Oliver, all,

Here’s an overview of the Academy, and a link to the Meshery Academy to help get a sense of it. You might notice a DigitalOcean entry, which is just a placeholder for your potential content.

On Monday, the CNCF blog will announce first-ever contributor certification offered by Meshery. This certification is delivered through this academy. Is there a time on Monday or early next week that one of you might be able to sync on this subject and the partnership items mentioned in our other thread?

Have a great weekend,
Lee

Oliver, I’m in the central time zone in the US. Name a time and let’s meet up.

Narasimha, perhaps this is something that you would like to explore, instead?

Hello Lee,

Sure, we can do that but I was thinking discussing this potential partnership with our manager before our meeting with you would be much better. What do you think?

Best,
