Dear Meshery Maintainers,

I’m Ragul Balajii, an M.Sc. (Integrated) student and an active contributor in the Layer5/Meshery community for the past few months.

I will soon start a 6-month internship, and during this time I would also like to contribute more to Meshery by building an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for Meshery. I also want to learn more about Meshery’s architecture and how it works internally.

My first goal is to create a basic MCP server using Go, since the Meshery server is also built with Go, with features like:

  • Listing designs and models
  • Deploying designs
  • Checking cluster status and connections
  • JWT authentication with Meshery

Later, I would like to add more features such as:

  • Applying patterns
  • Running performance tests
  • Policy validation
  • Real-time cluster event support

I also plan to add testing and documentation for the project.
I would be happy to hear your thoughts or suggestions on this idea and whether there are any existing discussions or preferred approaches for this project.

Best regards,
Ragul Balajii
