	McKinney STEAM Academy (MSA) We have been invited to attend the Frisco Rough Riders STEM fundraiser! Every game ticket sold through our link raises funds for our students! We will be there with our robots answering the public’s questions. Be sure to stop by and say “Hi!” while you’re there. Purchase Deadline: May 10, 2024 7:05 PM CDT
	FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION (FRC) Belton photos, please add yours!: https://photos.app.goo.gl/e7uAMGHP9DnT5wNQ7 Belton was a wild roller coaster ride. This is the first time we’ve ever made it to the finals at an event. Every match had our students, parents, and mentors on the edge of their seats. In the end, we walked away with 53 District Points, ranked 21st in our District after our first event putting us in contention with teams that have already competed twice. We still have the opportunity to earn more points at Amarillo. We also received the Team Sustainability Award. Returning parents and mentors love getting new parents up to speed on the sometimes complex scoring at these events. Never hesitate to ask questions! Our performance this weekend leaves us in an extremely strong position to go to State. As noted in the parent presentation (slide 18), our initial fees at the start of the season do not include the costs associated with State or Worlds. We are anticipating the total cost of event registration and student lunches at State to be $200 per student for this event. LOST one EZup style tent cover. If found, please bring it to the workshop. FOUND two shirts. They are hanging just inside the workshop front door. A massive THANK YOU for the support our parents provide to your kids and our team. Thank you to our Coaches and Mentors. This weekend quite literally wouldn’t happen without everybody’s participation and support. Additional thank you to Sarah at La Quinta for assisting us with our Friday dinner site. Shawn & Gabe provided hands-on assistance all the way through. If our parents would mention them specifically by name in a positive review, we’d appreciate it. We hope we can work with them again next year. The Hoodie and Shirt order form has been reopened for additional orders. We will work with our vendor this week on timing to ensure we have a second order in hand for Amarillo. Get your order in soon. This Week: There will be a mentor available to be on site every day from 9am to 9pm for students that would like additional shop access this week. Have your student check Google Chat to coordinate with their teammates.
