Stuff the Bus
Now - Aug. 16 (8/17 at MUCC)
Backpacks and school supplies have been coming in for this year’s Stuff the Bus campaign!
The donated items will be taken to the McFarland Food Pantry, where families with school-age children will go on Monday, August 18, to pick up the backpacks and school supplies to give the children what they need to start the school year.
Drop donations in the box located in the Fellowship area now through Sunday, August 17, or any other donation box (Village Municipal Center, McFarland Library, McFarland Walgreens, or McFarland Pick 'N Save) until August 16. Donations may also be dropped off at the high school (main entrance) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 16. To make a cash donation, mail it to the McFarland Community Food Pantry (specify 'Stuff the Bus' on the memo line of your check), PO Box 101, McFarland, WI 53558, or donate online (using PayPal or Venmo), and specify 'Stuff the Bus' in a comment.
School supplies needed: Sturdy backpacks (grades 6-12); Kleenex; black Expo dry erase markers; spiral notebooks (college-ruled, 1-subject); #2 wood pencils (sharpened); binder dividers; white 1-inch 3-ring binders; yellow highlighters; yellow Post-It notes; composition notebooks (wide-ruled); felt-tip pens; pocket calculators; and Ziploc bags (gallon or quart size). We don’t need: crayons, glue sticks.
Photo: Bill and Auburn of Nelson Bus Service attached a poster last year to a school bus parked in the McFarland High School parking lot. (The banner shows a date of August 10, but this year’s event ends at the high school on August 16.)

Sound Bath - Chakra Balance and Affirmations
August 17, 1-3 pm
Judy Taber has a connection with Karen Jedele and helped coordinate this opportunity.
What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a meditative experience where participants lie down or sit comfortably while sounds and vibrations from various instruments are played. These instruments can include singing bowls, gongs, chimes, drums, and other harmonic tools. The term "bath" implies that the participants are immersed in the sounds, allowing the vibrations to wash over them, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and sometimes even spiritual or emotional healing. The intention is to create a therapeutic environment where individuals can let go of tension, quiet their mind, and enter a state of deep relaxation or meditation. Click here to register.

John Reed
Our church family and friends will gather on Wednesday, August 20, to celebrate the life of our friend John Reed. The visitation on 8/20 will be from 9-10:30 am with the Celebration of Life at 11:00 am. Lunch will follow the service.
For lunch, several salads and desserts are needed, as well as assistance with cleanup. To volunteer or ask questions, contact Martha Olsen.

Lost and Found
Three water bottles, glasses, and a lightweight, water-repellent Columbia jacket (appeared after the Geasland funeral) are in the "Lost and Found" basket in the coat area in the Fellowship Area. If you recognize one as yours, it has been "Found." If they are still "lost" on August 20, they will be donated.

Butterflies, Butterflies!
Stop by the 2 small oak trees between the pollinator garden and the church sign near the corner of Anthony and Broadhead/MN. MANY butterflies have been sighted this week!

Weekly Creation Care Topic
Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
This week’s tip: REJUVENATE - Looking for a message of hope and connectedness in times that can feel hopeless and disconnected: read The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It is a short but engaging book that calls us to reevaluate our values, consider our relationship with nature, and live in a more interconnected way with all beings. The author offers an indigenous vision of a gift economy where resources are shared and relationships are valued, for a more balanced life for all people and for the planet.
