New AC Units
Submitted by Geoff Brink, Building and Grounds lead
We are ready for next year's summer temperatures! Two new AC units were installed last week at the church, which will make sanctuary services and fellowship time significantly more comfortable. Sincerest thanks to Gregg Krattiger, whose acumen in the HVAC business saved the church approximately $4200 on the purchase and installation cost of these units. Thanks to our treasurer, Kathy Schwenn, as well, for completing the paperwork on short notice.

Weekly Creation Care Topic
Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
This week’s tip: REUSE - There’s life in the “litter.” Among the dead leaves, dried stems and yard debris of fall and winter reside a host of wildlife species: bumble bees, moths, frogs, pill bugs, salamanders, box turtles, even some bats (and many, many more) who rely on this part of the ecosystem to survive; we need them to survive to help pollinate and keep the life cycle in rhythm. If you can’t quite break the culture of “neat and tidy”, leave an area of leaves, maybe a couple of downed branches, and dried flower/plant stems for your nonhuman kin to live in this winter. A pile of leaves is home for some and will turn into great compost for the garden later. Mulching at least some of your leaves back into the lawn also provides natural fertilizer that saves on time (no/less bagging and hauling) and money. Finally, be aware that all of our tiny neighbors are affected by pesticides, not only the ones we don’t want. Click here to read the "Life in the Litter" article on the National Wildlife Federation website.
