Interim Search Update
Submitted by Donna Grossman, moderator
SaLT has interviewed two candidates for interim pastor. There was a third candidate that we would have interviewed but they were requesting an 18 month commitment. While we understood why that made sense for the candidate, we didn’t feel comfortable making a commitment of that length of time to an interim. We are asking for more candidate referrals and will follow up as we receive them.

Dances of Universal Peace
September 18, 6:30-8:30 pm
Join Robin and Michael for an evening of connection, community, and solace as they lead us in powerful body prayers at McFarland UCC!
The Dances of Universal Peace (DUP) are a spiritual practice in motion, drawing from sacred phrases, scripture, and poetry of the world's many traditions. The Dances blend chant, live music, and evocative movement into a living experience of unity, peace, and connection. This opens the possibility of a deep, spiritual revolution within each person.
We will join together in a circle, hand in hand, symbolizing the love, unity, and interconnectedness of all people. The circle represents wholeness, equality, and harmony.
Questions? Trish Kalhagen 608-921-1123 or chmusi...@yahoo.com
All are welcome! Come as you are. If you are physically limited, we welcome you as you are, and we accommodate you as needed. In this practice, there are no performers, no audience, and no experience necessary, as each dance is taught and guided.

Weekly Creation Care Topic
Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
This week’s tip: REDUCE the number of migratory bird deaths by dimming or turning off lights at night when the birds are navigating their way to winter homes. You will also save money on energy costs. According to the blog "Lights Out" on Audubon's website, “While all unnecessary lighting should be reduced, the exterior decorative lights and lighted upper stories are a priority as they can disorient night migrating birds, especially in inclement weather." September to early November is the peak migratory time. Take simple steps like: turning off unnecessary outdoor lights, using motion detectors, downshading outdoor lights, closing curtains to dim indoor lights, especially in tall buildings, and using softer lighting rather than harsh, bright lights. Our winged friends will thank you, AND you will be better able to enjoy the stars!
