Earth Day Celebration Service!
April is the month when we celebrate Easter, Spring, and Earth Day. April has also just been designated National Native Plant Month! Join us on Sunday, April 12, for a fun and engaging church service hosted by the MUCC Creation Care Ministry. In honor of Earth Day, we celebrate the wonders of creation and renew our call as caretakers of this planet. We’ll pray that each of us can do more to care for the Earth, our home. Art and posters around our gathering space, including the bulletin board near the kitchen, show what we have done as a church – and what actions we as individuals can do – to support the health of our planet.

Kids Corner
Attention parents of young children! There will be Care and Earth Day activities during Sunday's worship service. We hope to see you and the kids there!

Teen Meeting
Sunday, April 12
We will gather at the Memorial UCC at 5:30 pm. We have the joy of sharing a Sunday Funday with you! Maddie Planton, one of the teenagers at Memorial, has been creating AMAZING, active Sunday School lessons for the first Sunday of the month for the past 3-4 years. We have dubbed these Sunday Fundays!
FUN: While Maddie can't be with us in the evening, we wanted to showcase the ministry she has been offering. On April 12, she will set up and lead the youth in the morning. Pastor Peter is going to observe so that we can use her creativity and share it again with YOU in the evening.
FOOD: After the Sunday Funday activity, we will have a simple supper of soup and bread (with dessert, of course!).
SONG: At Memorial UCC, several people have been getting together each week to sing Songs of Resistance - simple, community songs. Songs are a powerful, creative tool that brings people together in solidarity, harmony, and justice. We will explore song as a means of community building.

Pastor Search Committee Survey
Due next week, Wednesday!
As we seek a new Pastor, understanding the feelings and desires of our congregation is crucial. This survey plays a vital role in our search process, allowing us to listen closely to the congregation's voice and discern whom God is calling to be our next pastor. Your input will help us understand our congregation’s strengths, hopes, and needs, and will also inform future pastoral candidates about who we are.
We invite every adult involved with McFarland UCC to participate. Like Communion, this invitation is open to everyone who worships with us, whether you're a member, a regular attendee, or an occasional visitor. The survey is completely anonymous—no personal identification is required, and responses cannot be traced back to individuals. Please be honest in your responses.
You can complete the survey online (see the link below and on our website) or in print by April 15. Printed surveys are available in the Fellowship area or can be requested by contacting Ginger, the Office Administrator, via phone or email. Return completed surveys to the labeled survey box in the Fellowship area or use the provided envelope to mail them back via USPS. Feel free to take a survey home and return it later by placing it in the box.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any member of the Pastor Search Committee: Heather Blackmore, Peter Cavi, Joan Jacobsen, Chris Taber, Rachael Saladis, Patrick Broderick, or Kiley Timler.
Thank you in advance for your much-needed and appreciated input!
| | Next week I will share information from last night's SaLT meeting (4/9) about the discussions and decisions. There will be a couple of changes you will notice this coming Sunday (4/12) at worship. | | |
Weekly Creation Care Topic
Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
Reduce food waste: 40% of all food in America is wasted, and food is the #1 thing in US landfills. Each of us tosses nearly 300 lbs. of food each year. LEARN THE ART OF FREEZING. Get in the habit of freezing leftovers: bread, meat, vegetables, and fruit, instead of tossing them in the garbage. The average family could save $1833/yr by wasting less food while reducing greenhouse gas, and 25% of wasted food would globally feed 795 million under-nourished folks.
