A word from the SaLT Moderator...
Greetings MUCC’ers!
First and foremost, I’d like to thank you for your nomination and vote as your Moderator for 2026.
Although I have served as Moderator many years ago, in my early sobriety, our church is in a very different place from that time long ago. Our community has grown to something that I had never dreamed possible. So there are many members, ongoing guests, clergy, and administrative assistants, who have all contributed to our spirit-led group of believers, agnostics, and atheists. Although I may be biased, my involvement in the greater UCC Wisconsin community illuminates how our faith community is a bright and shining star. Our ministries are producing spiritual fruits that reflect your passion for justice-led “good trouble.” My hope is that I can rise to the occasion as a Moderator for such a beloved community! A moderator can only do this work with the assembled team of current and new SaLT leadership members. More on those members in future articles.
With that said, I want to announce an opportunity for us to get to know each other during this year. On February 16, at 9 am, I will be hosting the first of what I will call “Moderator Chat” at McFarland’s Grace Coffee, 4719 Farwell St, # 106. Come have a coffee or tea on me, just tell the barista, “It’s on Walt”. I will be setting up a more routine schedule after I return from my week's visit with my sister in St Petersburg, Florida, and brother in West Palm Beach, Florida as my brother is dealing with a major health issue.
Lastly, and most importantly, I want to say thank you to Donna Grossman and the previous members of SaLT for all that you have done and accomplished this past year. You all rose to the challenges of an unexpected pastor's departure, a spirit-led search for an interim pastor, and the formation of a permanent search committee! These tasks are the most important issues that come along to a church in this call system of the UCC. Such grace and compassion you showed in leadership! Again, blessings to you all!
See you at church!
Walt

Sound Bath - Chakra Balance and Affirmations
Sunday, February 15, 1-3 pm
Judy Taber has a connection with Karen Jedele and helped coordinate this opportunity.
What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a meditative experience where participants lie down or sit comfortably while sounds and vibrations from various instruments are played. These instruments can include singing bowls, gongs, chimes, drums, and other harmonic tools. The term "bath" implies that the participants are immersed in the sounds, allowing the vibrations to wash over them, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and sometimes even spiritual or emotional healing. The intention is to create a therapeutic environment where individuals can let go of tension, quiet the mind, and enter a state of deep relaxation or meditation. Click here to register.

Weekly Creation Care Topic
Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
Celebrate Black History by learning about often unrecognized Black environmental leaders. Will Allen is one such leader; he is the founder and CEO of Growing Power Inc., recognized as one of our preeminent thinkers on agriculture and food policy, and is a leading authority in the expanding field of urban agriculture. Allen believes that everyone should have access to fresh, safe, affordable, and nutritious foods. Using methods he has developed over a lifetime, Allen specializes in bringing healthy food to underserved communities using a unique growing system he developed himself and trains community members to become community farmers. What started as a simple partnership to change the landscape of Milwaukee's north side has blossomed into a national and global commitment to sustainable food systems. Use this link for the San Francisco Environment Dept to be inspired by more environmental leaders.
