Search Committee Congregational Input Phase 2!
The Search Committee is getting ready to conduct our next phase of gathering information from the congregation to help us develop the pastoral search profile.
The next phase is to hold focus groups. This phase will further inform the search committee of the following areas on the profile:
- Characteristics and expertise that the congregation is looking for in a settled pastor
- Characteristics and attributes of our church that we want a new settled pastor to be aware of
Both of these are imperative for all applicants to understand, as we move forward in our search for a new settled pastor.
There is a link provided here. In this link, you will find a quick 2-question questionnaire with a list of topics and times from which you can choose, if you are interested in participating in a focus group.
Responding does not guarantee you will be part of the focus groups you express interest in; rather, that you are willing to share your time and voice as we create well-balanced and representative small groups to share ideas. From this questionnaire, we will begin creating the groups, and the Search committee will reach out to you to let you know the next steps. You must put your contact info so we can reach you. We will also be sending out an email with this same information and link (very simple click and answer form). We will also have hard copies available in the fellowship hall with a private box to put your questionnaire in.
Thank you to everyone for your patience and continued interest in the process of finding and calling our new settled pastor!
Your dedicated Search Committee

Reminder: The Luv-On 70+ Birthday Bash is Just Around the Corner!
Dear MUCC Family,
A few weeks ago, I shared the story of how our late friend, Lavon Geasland, dreamed of a grand celebration to honor the 70+ community members here at MUCC. I spoke about the incredible depth of story, love, and quiet activism that these foundational members have poured into this church, leaving us all better for it.
Now, the warmer weather is finally here, and it is time to bring Lavon’s vision to life! This is our official reminder to mark your calendars, RSVP, and join us as we hold space and say a massive "Thank You" to the incredible folks who built the heart of this community.
Event Details
What: The Luv-On 70+ Birthday Bash
Who: Honoring all MUCC members aged 70 and better! (All community members of all ages are warmly invited to attend, celebrate, and help host.)
Date: Sunday, May 24th
Time: Following Service/11:30 am
Location: McFarland UCC
How You Can Join Us:
-
Are you 70 or better? Please let us know if you can make it, if you haven’t already, so we can properly prepare to celebrate you! Reach out to Araceli Wehr or Judy Taber.
- Come and celebrate! You don't have to be over 70 or on a committee to participate. We want the whole community there to shower our honorees with love, share stories, and enjoy some birthday cake together.
-
Want to join the setup crew? We still need a few more hands to help make this day extra special. If you can lend a hand with decorations, baking treats, or hosting/greeting during the event, please contact Araceli Wehr at 775-443-7114.
Let’s come together to eat some cake, share some incredible stories, and fulfill a beautiful legacy.
With anticipation and gratitude,
The 70+ Birthday Bash Team!

Weekly Creation Care Topic
Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
May 22: BATTERY RECYCLING UPDATE: The Dept of Energy has cancelled all grants to help with battery recycling costs. As of mid May 2026, Staples stores will recycle batteries for a charge of $2.99 per visit (for any amount of batteries). Batteries Plus, like all stores, also lost the Federal grant, but the Green Bay Packers team donated funds to aid Batteries Plus through 2026, so the public can recycle batteries for free at their stores. Governor Evers has signed 2 laws this year that will lead to free public battery recycling again; by Jan 2028, batteries must be recycled in WI. For more info, click here.

Vanco Mobile App Update
Vanco, the company that processes McFarland UCC payments, will be updating its mobile app. Beginning on May 26, 2026, mobile app users may be prompted to update their app to continue accessing all features and functionality.
This update is designed to improve overall performance, security, and reliability for all users. Most users will simply need to download the latest version of the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store when prompted.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Vanco support team or Kathy Schwenn.

Pattern Disrupt: Identify and implement tools to support a shift towards supportive behavior patterns with Meagan Mac Ionnrachtaigh of SACRED THREAD™. Meagan is a Yoga Teacher, Chef, Massage Therapist, and Womb Continuum Care Practitioner.
Identify 1-5 behavior patterns in your life that you would like to shift for any reason. We will co-create a series of breath and movement that would interrupt the pattern once you become aware of it. For 40 days, we will commit to using this tool to disrupt the identified patterns. Participants will be encouraged to take daily notes on how many times the patterns came up and the results of using the tool. We will also talk about life-nourishing patterned behavior, which participants may choose to begin implementing as a course of action post-disrupt.
There will be two follow-up calls over Zoom—one 20 days in and one at the end. At the halfway point, we will troubleshoot and reignite motivation. At the end, we will celebrate and talk about moving forward with our patterns as an ongoing challenge to work with.
A potluck will follow. Please bring a dish to share. Gluten-free, plant-based whole food preferred.
