Spring Cleanup Day

TOMORROW/May 9, 8:00 am-Noon

Join the Building and Grounds team on May 9 at 8:00 am (or later) to spruce up the church inside and out. Snacks and a light lunch will be provided. You don't need any tools, but you are welcome to bring a favorite rake, lopper, or rag.

Outreach Fund Update

The Reed-Smeaton Outreach Fund (once known as the Sustaining Outreach and Scholarship [S.O.S] Fund) was established in 2000. The Outreach Fund Committee determines which outreach initiatives are funded throughout the year. For at least the past decade, there has been a commitment to support scholarships for college, university, or a trade program for high school graduates who are active participants in our church. The Outreach Funds Committee recently reviewed the application process for the $250 scholarships and developed an application form. For more information about the scholarship application, please contact Joan Jacobsen (jo...@mcfarlanducc.org), Chair of the Outreach Funds Committee.

First Annual Silent Auction

May 3-24, 2026

Check out the many donated items in the Fellowship Hall during the month of May. There will be baskets, services, and gift certificates available for bidding. Donations were made by members of the McFarland UCC community, as well as local businesses. All proceeds go toward the teen service learning trip to Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota this summer.

Quilts by Marilyn

Check out Marilyn Brink's quilts! She is the latest artist sharing her passion and talent in the Fellowship area. The display is not one to miss!

I’ve been sewing since I was four years old. I wanted a toy sewing machine, but my mother said, “No, I’ll teach you how to sew on my sewing machine.” Since learning to sew, the process of sewing, embroidery, smocking, and quilting has become my creative outlet and what grounds me.

The items on display include bed-size quilts, wall hangings, and table runners. Some are quilted in the traditional method of piecing fabric together to create a quilt top, then layering a quilt top with batting and a backing fabric, and finally quilting (“sewing”) the layers together. Some are “art” quilts using appliqué (layers of fabric) to create a picture. Others are embroidered by the sewing machine to create a picture.

Thursday, May 28, 7-8:30 pm

“Listening from the Heart”

You are invited to attend a FREE Zoom workshop sponsored by McFarland UCC and the Palestine Justice Working Group. This workshop will feature Elana, who lost her 20-year-old son on October 7, 2023, and Bassam, who lost his 10-year-old daughter in 2007. Click here for more information.

There are 3 baseball tickets left! Please contact Lisa Schweitzer (li...@mcfarlanducc.org) with questions.

Greetings members and friends,

I wanted to do a Show & Tell today about my shirt, which says “Be Pretti Good.” Renee Nicole Macklin Good lived 10 blocks from my niece and great niece’s home. I got to meet Renee when I visited one time, as she was my family’s friend. I wear this in remembrance of her life and friendship with my relatives.

Many may not know that I worked for the Madison Police Department as their civilian master scheduler for 22 years. In addition, during that time, my husband’s second cousin was killed by an on-duty, commissioned officer on the force. I have spent many hours contemplating my relationship with law enforcement, and not only their good actions, but their questionable or bad actions by a sworn police officer, etc.

Thank you,

Walt
