Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to those of you with birthdays in September! In case you missed the September Birthday cake, here's a picture of it.

Dances of Universal Peace
September 18, 6:30-8:30 pm
Join Robin and Michael for an evening of connection, community, and solace as they lead us in powerful body prayers at McFarland UCC!
The Dances of Universal Peace (DUP) are a spiritual practice in motion, drawing from sacred phrases, scripture, and poetry of the world's many traditions. The Dances blend chant, live music, and evocative movement into a living experience of unity, peace, and connection. This opens the possibility of a deep, spiritual revolution within each person.
We will join together in a circle, hand in hand, symbolizing the love, unity, and interconnectedness of all people. The circle represents wholeness, equality, and harmony.
Questions? Trish Kalhagen 608-921-1123 or chmusi...@yahoo.com
All are welcome! Come as you are. If you are physically limited, we welcome you as you are, and we accommodate you as needed. In this practice, there are no performers, no audience, and no experience necessary, as each dance is taught and guided.

Yummy Comes to MUCC!
September begins our relationship with Just Bakery, a branch of Just Dane. Just Bakery is a training program for people with different barriers to employment, such as homelessness and previous incarceration. The program teaches a variety of skills, and participants can even earn up to 15 credits towards a Culinary degree at Madison College! MUCC GETS TO BENEFIT, TOO!
Starting Sunday, September 21st, Just Bakery will sell delicious baked goods in the fellowship hall after worship service. This will be ongoing, every other third Sunday of the month. They offer sweet and savory items, as well as vegan and gluten-free options. Payment accepted is cash, card, check, and (sometimes) Venmo. If you discover a favorite, you can make a request ahead of time. Hope that everyone enjoys this fun, connective, and, yes, YUMMY new opportunity for our community! Any questions, ask Amy Cavi!

Sound Bath - Chakra Balance and Affirmations
Sept 21, 1-3 pm
Judy Taber has a connection with Karen Jedele and helped coordinate this opportunity.
What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a meditative experience where participants lie down or sit comfortably while sounds and vibrations from various instruments are played. These instruments can include singing bowls, gongs, chimes, drums, and other harmonic tools. The term "bath" implies that the participants are immersed in the sounds, allowing the vibrations to wash over them, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and sometimes even spiritual or emotional healing. The intention is to create a therapeutic environment where individuals can let go of tension, quiet their mind, and enter a state of deep relaxation or meditation. Click here to register.

Styrofoam Recycling
Several of us met a McFarland resident who recently retired and has made it her mission to help McFarland residents and businesses recycle Styrofoam, keeping it out of the landfill. She will pick up from individuals but would love to partner with churches and businesses to schedule weekly pickups at their locations. She has partnered with McFarland Lutheran Church and now McFarland UCC will participate.
From the recent Sustain Dane newsletter, here is information about this recycling program:
“Recycle Better program graduate and McFarland resident, Lori Whitman, has been on a mission to keep Styrofoam out of landfills, and her impact has been incredible. Within the first ten months of the Styrofoam recycling program Lori has made 140 individual home pickups and serviced over 35 community member drop offs at McFarland’s Community Service Day. Lori personally delivers the Styrofoam to a specialized recycling facility, Reynolds Urethane Recycling. Her work has led to the recycling of approximately 2660 cubic feet in Styrofoam - which is the capacity of over three 30-year dumpsters!”
We have placed a blue plastic bin under the coat hangers with signage indicating that the bin is for Styrofoam recycling. Here are the items that she can accept for recycling:
● Styrofoam packaging that protects items during shipping.
● Clean food containers - egg cartons, carry out containers, Styrofoam cups, etc. Remove
all food and labels!
● Only packing peanuts that float can be recycled. Those that disintegrate in water
cannot be recycled. Test them before giving them to me.
● Any items labeled #4 or #6. (Not all Styrofoam will have a number.)
● All items must be completely clean - no food, tape, labels, etc.
Click here to see an information flyer that will also be posted withthe collection bin. Her pickups at our church will begin in early October. Save that Styrofoam and bring it to church for recycling!

Weekly Creation Care Topic
Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
This week’s tip: RECYCLE - Glass is a top ten product that remains the longest in our landfills. It is non-biodegradable and takes up to 1 million years to decompose in landfills. While glass may break down into shards, it cannot change back into a natural element. Glass can be remanufactured infinitely into new products. Therefore, there’s no reason glass bottles should end up in landfills. Clean all colors of glass bottles/jars and place them in your recycle bin without the caps (clean metal caps may be recycled separately from the glass).
