Hi Mathesar developers!

Mathesar 0.7.0 is slated to release on October 28th. I've moved this back one day to accommodate for the fact that I'll be on vacation the week of QA.

As a result, Brent is going to cut the release early next week and check in with our QA developer after the images are tagged and built.

The release notes and social copy (link for maintainers only) are ready for Kriti's review and approval.

Additionally, I've documented our upcoming version deprecation for PostgreSQL 13 in the release notes and written a PR to improve our version support page. Pavish, please review this ASAP so we can include it in 0.7.0. If it's delayed for any reason I can always rebase it to the release PR and make changes on Monday.

Lastly, Sean and Brent please remember to review the fix for "id" columns in the import logic.

Thanks everyone! I'll see you in just over a week.

Best,
Zack

Hey team,

The release branch is cut. Any PRs which go into the release should now target the aforementioned branch. Thank you!

Hey Zack,

I wanted to follow up on https://github.com/mathesar-foundation/mathesar/issues/4858, is this something you're planning on working on / I should review?

Thanks!
Kriti

Hi all,

A quick update on 0.7.0 and why it didn't go out yesterday. The release will go live either today or tomorrow, pending some lingering QA. Here's a quick summary of recent events:
  • QA began in the middle of last week. Towards the end of the week, some issues were identified with sporadic 500 errors and 500 errors when attempting to upload files.
  • On my return Monday, Brent and I did some debugging and we determined the issue was related to using gevent workers and how it was intersecting with our upload code.
  • As such, Brent made a PR to switch back to sync workers and we resumed QA testing.
  • Yesterday our QA tester noticed some potential issues around CSV header matching and disabling file uploads. Today I'm going to test those behaviors and decide how to proceed. I don't expect these issues to blocking but I want to take the time to be certain.
  • Kriti will review the release notes and social posts today.
  • Oh, and to follow up on Kriti's most recent message, I do have the form docs written and will push them for review shortly.
Thanks,
Zack
