Dear Sausalito Pedestrian and Bicycle Advocates,
As the Chair of the Sausalito Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee, I’m reaching out because on Monday, December 9th, we will receive a first-ever look from a traffic engineer on how we could improve safety on the Bridgeway waterfront, from Princess to Richardson Street.
This stretch is one of Sausalito's most scenic and well-traveled routes, not only by motorists but also by cyclists, pedestrians, delivery drivers, and emergency vehicles. This grant-funded study considers how the roadway could better serve everyone who uses it.
While it can be tempting to resist change, this project is about addressing long-standing safety concerns and enhancing how this space works for our entire community (Read more here about the 29+ year history of this project). Design ideas include safer pedestrian crossings, solutions for delivery vehicles, and dedicated bike lanes—all of which aim to reduce accidents and make the corridor more welcoming for everyone.
If safety is important to you, I encourage you to participate either by attending our meeting on Monday, December 9th, or submitting public comment in advance. I believe that working together we can find solutions that enhance safety, preserve the area’s charm, and meet the needs of all users.
Here are a few ways you can learn more and participate:
