Hi there,
Thanks to a state law (AB 43) passed a couple years ago, cities now have more flexibility with setting local speed limits. Sausalito is one of several cities in Marin that is taking advantage of this new law to lower speed limits on the Bridgeway corridor.
Virtually the entire stretch of Bridgeway/Richardson/Second Street south of Napa Street will be reduced to a 20 mph speed limit, with Napa-Spring lowered to 25 mph and Spring-Nevada lowered to 30 mph.
You can write to the City Council to support staff's recommendations of lowered speed limits
using this link.
One area to push on is the segment between Nevada St-Gate 6 Rd (the northern city limits). The speed limit here is 35 mph and the staff recommendation is to keep it at that limit. However, much of this segment is on Sausalito's "High Collision Network," and there is also a high concentration of bicycle traffic, given the lack of alternative routes. We believe that that segment should be lowered to 30 to align with the rest of the corridor north of Spring Street.
Let me know if you have any questions!
