Manhattan Update

PresidentDear Manhattan University Community,

It is truly wonderful to see our beautiful campus alive again with the sights and sounds of our students—welcoming our newest Jaspers, greeting our returning upperclassmen, and celebrating our spirited Class of 2026. While so many of our faculty, administrators, and staff have been hard at work throughout the summer months, nothing quite compares to the joy that comes when students return—bustling about, catching up with one another, comparing class schedules, and swapping stories from their summers. Welcome home, everyone!

This semester promises to be filled with energy and opportunity. On September 9, we will host the very first Evening with James Patterson ’69—titled Why I’m Investing Big in Manhattan University. As part of The James Patterson Honors Program, the best-selling author will join us for a conversation on success, followed by a book signing of his newest collaboration with President Bill Clinton, First Gentleman. A complimentary copy of the book will be available to the first 400 attendees. Registration is required, so if you have not yet responded, I encourage you to do so today. Looking ahead, Mr. Patterson will return on September 29 for a discussion with Patrick Leddin on their book Disrupt Everything – and Win and on October 9 Alex Schultz, Chief Marketing Officer of META, will be on campus for a solo discussion. More details will follow soon.

We are also preparing for Family Weekend, scheduled for September 26–28, one of those events that reminds us just how special this community really is. Please stay tuned for more information as the date approaches.

If you’ve walked around campus recently, you’ve probably noticed some welcome improvements: fresh signage, new coats of paint brightening many of our buildings, new stairs and walkways around Squeri Hall, and the ongoing renovation of Founder’s Bridge. These changes not only improve safety and accessibility but also create an even more inviting and vibrant environment for all who study, work, and visit here.

I believe deeply in the greatness and resiliency of this institution and the innovative work that takes place here on a daily basis. Our Lasallian heritage calls us to see and respect the dignity of every person, to be a welcoming community, and to deliver a transformative education to all our students. Together, I know we can and will meet all challenges and opportunities with courage and creativity.

As August comes to a close and we head into the Labor Day weekend, I hope each of you finds time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the holiday with family and friends.

I look forward to seeing you around campus, at upcoming events, and in your classrooms. My very best wishes for a semester filled with learning, creativity, and discovery.

Warm regards,

Frederick Bonato Signature
