Hi Jenny
In the last email you have mentioned that we might plan to restrict the number of people attending the in-person event to about 20-25.
Keeping that in mind, should I advertise only the online event on Twitter? Or should I do a post of in-person event as well (mentioning number of available places)?
I can start social media posting as soon as I hear back.
Thanks
Vamsi

Hi Vamsi
Promote both. :-) We want people to know they can attend in person, and to be aware that (some) future events will have an in person component.

Agreed - we need to get plenty of people to the events to boost the community and I think with two separate meetups it is much clearer who will come in person so promote away!
It's a lot of effort to put this together so having a full event and waiting list is a good thing (which reminds me - is the waitlist feature activated?).

The waitlist in Meetup seems to operate automatically, for the tours either increasing attendance count or people cancelling opens a space. Looking back at the attendance list a little later someone has moved from the Waitlist to Attending.
Vamsi - I can be event host for the in person listing on Meetup.
Cheers, Tony

OK - I thought you had to choose if you wanted a waiting list, perhaps it is the default.

We were having the opposite problem with the tour listings on the SynBio Meetup, where we couldn't turn off the waitlist.
