Hi All

RSVP to the next Biomaker meetup tomorrow 15 June @ 19:30 in the Makespace Classroom. Plans for the evening include:
  • Build a PCR machine (like the COVID test ones but less fancy) - plus possible dial in to Paris where and international group are spending two weeks designing open source hardware for DNA detection
  • Continued development of a low-cost programmable incubator
  • Slime mould computing to find the most efficient route between Cambridge's finest pubs
Thanks very much and hope to see you there!
Next month's session is 20 July and we will be joined by Steph Norwood for an introduction to biomaker.org advanced modules.

What is a Biomaker Meetup?

Monthly in-person, informal meetup/hangout @ Makespace for anyone for repairing, designing and building lab equipment. Join the Biology Club email group for updates and discussions: https://biology-club.makespace.org/

Bring your own project to work on (anything involving lab hardware is welcome), take the opportunity to work through Biomaker training with others (https://www.biomaker.org/) or join one of the Beneficial Bio community projects to benefit researchers in resource-limited labs in Africa and Latin America and closer to home in community labs like Biomakespace:
  • Dismantling and repairing PCR machines (like the COVID test ones but less fancy)
  • Using an Arduino(-like) device to turn a £120 beer fridge into a programmable incubator to grow biological things and make useful reagents for the laboratory
Free biscuits, friendly dogs and chat included.
