DEI and Outreach Committee Members,
I'm reaching out to share an exciting collaboration between MakeHaven and Gather - the New Haven Innovation EcoLab (video overview). This initiative is designed to provide hands-on learning experiences in fabrication and product development to young individuals. Importantly, it includes an 8-week program that runs during evenings and weekends, offering a $1,000 stipend upon completion of benchmark goals. Our primary target is young adults aged 18 to 30, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds with an interest in entrepreneurship and the environment. A critical aspect of this program's success is ensuring it reaches those it intends to benefit the most. We acknowledge that traditional marketing methods often fail to connect with the young people who could gain the most from such opportunities.
Given the committee's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and your extensive networks, we believe you are uniquely positioned to help us identify potential nominators (or nominate directly).
Could you please consider who within your networks might serve as effective nominators for this initiative? Your insights and suggestions would be invaluable in ensuring we reach and positively impact our intended audience.
