The event is on: Saturday, August 19, 2023

Seems like something that would be beneficial to have a table at if we can get the volunteers.

Any ideas that can be implemented with our volunteers of how to make our table particularly impactful?

I love the idea of this festival and would love to help get the word out about MakeHaven, especially in black and brown communities. The festival notes it is aimed to "a festival highlighting black and brown business owners and creatives" -- I just want to be sure this is a fair fit for MakeHaven to register for a table.

That is a good point.  My assumption is that nonprofits (which technically are owned by the public) who serve black people and have an inclusive orientation would be welcome, but I can confirm that assumption.

I do think if we want to be most welcoming it will be important in this outreach to have diversity represented in the volunteers doing the outreach at our table.  One idea could be not to focus on MakeHaven but to use our tent to showcase a couple of the black entrepreneurs affiliated with MakeHaven.
In this way we are providing a place for them to elevate their visibility and getting visibility for MakeHaven too.

Ok. I send in an inquiry. I will report back what I learn.

Hi y’all,

My assumption is that this is only for Black entrepreneurs and Black led nonprofits, I think checking in and inquiring is a good idea.

And I agree that this could be a fair fit if Makehaven showcases and highlights Black Makehaven members, I would advise to take it a step further and cover the registration fee for folks as well.

Happy to show up and support the day of the event if it is on a weekend or after 6pm during the week.

Best,
Ruby
