Hi Brian,
I hope your year is going well. Would you be willing to share the announcement below with the IBL SIGMAA list?
Thanks!
Aaron
-----------
We're excited to announce registration is now open the 2019 Raising Calculus and Vector Calculus Bridge Workshop. This professional development workshop will be held June 18-21 at Concordia University in Irvine, California.
Pending NSF support, the workshop will support 20 to 24 participants. NSF funds will cover local expenses and some travel support for participating instructors. In addition, workshop instructors will be provided with a classroom kit of Surface materials
(up to 12 surfaces). [ Register now, but do NOT make travel arrangements until we hear from the NSF. ]
The workshop will be led by Aaron Wangberg, Melinda Schulteis, Tevian Dray, and Corinne Manogue.
The workshop is designed to help instructors become familiar with features cooked into the materials and activities of each project. At the workshop, instructors will experience the activities from both the teacher and student perspective, gain insight
into student conceptions (and misconceptions) of calculus concepts, and develop techniques to promote student contributions during small-group and whole-class discussion. We’ll also discuss how to incorporate the materials into the instructor’s existing course.
Raising Calculus to the Surface utilizes dry-erasable surfaces and small group activities to help students discover new multivariable calculus concepts prior to lecture. The Vector Calculus Bridge Project utilizes geometric reasoning to help students
understand vector calculus material. The projects have developed complementary activities which emphasize geometric reasoning and shift the classroom toward student-centered instruction.

Welcome to the Raising Calculus to the Surface project site. The goal of this project is to develop a new method for teaching and learning multivariable calculus in which students actively explore central ideas through measurement and conjecture.
