Hello all,

Just FYI: Positron is holding a webinar next week that might be worth attending (see below). Project Waves, a nonprofit ISP in Baltimore I wrote about here, uses Positron equipment to deliver gig speed service to individual units in MDUs. In Baltimore, they were able to get fiber to the buildings and used the old buildings existing cable wiring to deliver high speed Internet to every resident in various low income apartment complexes they serve at no cost to residents. With the network now in place, the operational cost for PW per unit/per month is about $16! Positron equipment allows network providers the ability to integrate fiber to the curb and HFC cabling so that buildings don't have to be completely re-wired to deliver really good connectivity.

Also, it's worth knowing about and listening to Joshua Edmonds (another ally of ours) from DigitalC and what they are doing in Cleveland. Here is a recent story on DigitalC's emerging network in Cleveland. And the keynote he gave for our recent Building for Digital Equity webinar is fabulous and super insightful. Here is the link to that. His presentation starts at about the 52 min mark

Happy to share. And while I'm probably taking up too much space in folks inbox, I forgot to mention

We just posted a podcast interview with Jen Hawkins from One Neighborhood Builders in Providence, Rhode Island. During the pandemic, they built one of the best gap networks we have seen - a wireless network along major arterials to serve one of the most vulnerable neighborhoods in the state. We talked with her in 2020 about it and then a few weeks ago again for an update.

They have learned a lot of lessons that I think others here will be interested in, including how they have tried to focus on improved telehealth options for people who have often not had that option.

Both shows have transcripts at the links. Links below but if you are already into podcasts, the show is on all major apps under Community Broadband Bits. Episode 575 with Jen is the most recent. The first interview was ep 437, so you'll have to scroll a bit to find it.
