Hello ArchivesSpace members,
I am happy to announce that Zeff Morgan will soon be joining ArchivesSpace in the new position of Junior Developer.
Zeff comes to us with a wealth of experience in testing automation, quality assurance, and software development. He has worked for small and large organizations, both non-profit and for-profit. Notable among them is GitLab, a widely used open-source platform for developing and deploying software, where he wrote code and collaborated with distributed teams and community contributors on feature specifications, bug fixes, and documentation. He has also built and supported web applications using Ruby on Rails, MySQL, and JavaScript at Lexmark, Indigenous Thinking, and Thiel Audio. Further back in his professional life, he developed curriculum and taught in a Montessori school, skills which he has continued to draw on in his technology-oriented work when thinking about how to understand the diverse needs of users and build tools that will help them do what they need to do in the ways that will work best for them.
In this new role, Zeff will work with our other developers on a range of projects. He will be particularly focused on assuring steady progress on smaller features, bug fixes, and user-facing functionality in the application. He will no doubt be interacting with community members frequently via JIRA and other channels as he gets to know the needs of the archives community and translates those into code for the ArchivesSpace application.
Zeff will officially join the ArchivesSpace team on November 17. Please join us in welcoming him to the ArchivesSpace community!
I also wanted to let you know that Don Smith is no longer with ArchivesSpace. We thank him for his contributions during his time with us. We will be posting the open Developer position soon and, once it’s available, I will share it and encourage you to circulate it in your networks as we seek to add this final member of our team.
Thanks as always for your support. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Christine
