Hi y’all—is there a way to adjust how long you stay logged in before you’re logged out for inactivity?

Once that happens, logging in again resets it to the home page instead of back to where you were, so extending the time before this happens would be helpful.

Thank you,

Hi Nicole,

There is: in the config/config.rb file, there are AppConfig settings called "session_expire_after_seconds" (for expirable sessions, which is probably what you're noticing) and "session_nonexpirable_force_expire_after_seconds" (non-expirable sessions, which actually do expire, but not for seven days).

They default to 3600 and 604800 seconds, respectively, but you can extend them as much as you need by editing the setting in the config file. hope that helps!

cheers

Thanks, Anton! I do that usually, but sometimes I still have to refresh a page for the re-login to register so it ends up back home, anyway.

I’m glad there are a few options for folks.

Hi Nicole,

My workaround for avoiding the page reset is to open a new tab and log in there. I often have many instances of ASpace open at once and sometimes keep them open overnight. This method allows me to pick up where I left off with all of them in the morning.

Best,

Anton

I am trying to follow some of the advice on this thread.... my parameter in the config.rb is/has been set to -1 and when I tried to set it to 7200  It was reported that staff logons all failed after restart.  So I undid the changes and set it back to -1.  But now I have a report of having to log in multiple times in a morning.  I've extracted the (massive) archivesspace.log file and I am looking through the relevant  timestamps to try to see why so many logons are needed.  I guess my main question for the group is what does a force expire look like in the logs?  Does the */* below indicate authentication was lost?
