Seeking Accessions MARC XML import map / more than one agent per accession

Request:

 

• Does anyone know how to get more than one agent into a bulk accession ingest without using the API?
• Does anyone know the whereabouts of documentation on which fields/subfields in MARC become which fields in an AS accession record?

 

Where I’ve looked so far:

 

• I have been able to find a map showing which fields in the Accession CSV become which fields in an ArchivesSpace accession. (I am looking at this page: https://archivesspace.org/resources/user-resources/migration-tools-and-data-mapping)
• However, I cannot find any documentation on which MARC fields become which fields in an ArchivesSpace accession record.

 

Background (the real problem to address)

 

• I have about 6000 accession records from two slightly different databases which I wish to ingest into AS.
• The reason I am even interested in MARC at all is to be able to have two agents (when source and creator are different). I assume that the MARC record import probably has a different shortcoming.
• If, other than using the API, anyone knows of how to get this data into ArchivesSpace, I would be grateful for your sharing.

Hi Kate!

I think the MARCXML > Accession record mapping is a gap in our documentation; I’m going to work on something like the published mappings for MARC > Resources and will share it on the list when it’s ready. 

I don’t know of another non-API way to import multiple agents attached to a single accession in a bulk accession ingest, but I’d be interested to hear if someone else has a method!
