Announcing ArchivesSpace's new Junior Developer
|
|
|
|
We are happy to announce that Zeff Morgan has joined ArchivesSpace in the new position of Junior Developer. Zeff comes to us with a wealth of experience in testing automation,
quality assurance, and software development. He has worked for small and large organizations, both non-profit and for-profit.
In this new role, Zeff will work with our other developers on a range of projects. He will be particularly focused on assuring steady progress on smaller features, bug
fixes, and user-facing functionality in the application. He will no doubt be interacting with community members frequently via JIRA and other channels as he gets to know the needs of the archives community and translates those into code for the ArchivesSpace
application.

Ohio University will update the community on their wikidata plugin development project.
We look forward to hearing from each of these community led projects and know they are excited to hear from attendees so please bring your questions and use cases for

December Drop In Workshops for Lyrasis CST
|
|
|
|
(Posted on behalf of Jess Farrell of Redstart Works, the consultant for the Lyrasis CST Interoperability Project)
You are invited to participate in a workshop gathering feedback on potential integrations between ArchivesSpace and other applications or frameworks.
Register
here!
ArchivesSpace operates via community leadership and consensus, and Lyrasis is our Organizational Home, providing the legal and operational infrastructure under which
we do our work. Our “roommates” in our Organizational Home include four other library and archive community-supported open source technologies.
Lyrasis recently increased investments in the Community Supported Technologies (CSTs) in the Organizational Home, committing to a $1 million investment called the Community-Supported
Technologies (CST) Growth Fund. In one of a series of projects supported by this fund called the CST Interoperability Project, we will develop technical specifications for at least one application integration with ArchivesSpace by summer 2026. The goal of
the project is to expand the adoptability, usability, and interoperability potential of ArchivesSpace and the other CSTs.
Jess Farrell, Consultant on the CST Interoperability project, and owner of Redstart Works consulting, will lead a brainstorming workshop on integrations. Think about
your workflows and what types of integrations would benefit your users and your work. Your participation and feedback will help identify candidate workflows for development.
There are several time slots available across time zones. Note that this is a cross-community offering, and there may be people from other Lyrasis CSTs (DSpace, CollectionSpace,
VIVO, Fedora, and ArchivesSpace). If you are interested in talking about interoperability across both institutional and community boundaries, now is a great opportunity!
What: CST Interoperability Project Feedback Workshop
Where: Zoom. Register Here!
https://scheduler.zoom.us/jessica-farrell-k1yr1c/lyrasis-interoperability-workshop
When: Dec. 10 - 11, various times.
Who: Community members (paying or non-paying members) who have the capacity and interest to join a 1 hour workshop to discuss integrations
