Creating an Event for Exhibitions

Hello, all!

 

Has anyone experimented with creating an Event for the purposes of tracking items used in an exhibition? I will need to add “Exhibition” to the Event type Controlled Value List, but that’s easy enough. I’d be interested to hear folks’ thoughts on this, if you’ve done this at your repository, pros/cons, etc.

Hi Tiffany,

Yes, I started doing this recently too. The event module seemed like the best way to track items on exhibit. Previously we were just putting notes in the accession record but that was very inconsistent and then not useful for tracking or reporting. I ended up creating two new types of events "Placed on Exhibit" and "Returned from Exhibit." We've only implemented this recently, but seems to be a useful way to track items.
