Hi everyone,

We’re currently testing the 4.01 and 4.1 upgrades in our dev environment, and I see in the release notes that “some additional time savers are options to duplicate a full resource record or archival object record…“ I’ve been able to test the duplicate resource record function, but I cannot see how to do the same with archival objects. I’m looking through the system itself as well as the Confluence site and the surface web, but I just can’t seem to find this functionality.

Would someone be able to point me in the right direction? Where/how do we duplicate archival objects? I could be missing something obvious, or perhaps I need to report this to our IT teams before we go to prod.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks,

Krystal

Hi all,

I wanted to test the resource / archival object duplication functionality in the Sandbox ArchivesSpace instance (https://sandbox.archivesspace.org/), which is at v4.1.1, but could only find a "Duplicate Resource" button for resource records; no such functionality for archival objects.

I couldn't find any documentation for the duplication feature / configuration on the ArchivesSpace Help Center, and was glad to find Krystal's question here. Only, it hasn't been answered. Could someone please clarify the claims made by the release notes about the duplication functionality, especially w.r.t. archival objects?

Best,

Ron

Hi Ron,

The Duplicate option for Archival Objects is available in the tree edit menu once you’ve navigated to an AO in Edit mode, see screenshot below:

Hi Valerie,

Ah, many thanks for pointing this out, I had clearly overlooked it. Yet, it would of course help to offer similar functionality at similar places, with uniform labels. Am I right that documentation for this feature is still missing, or have I missed that as well?

Best,

Ron

Hi Ron,

The User Documentation Sub-team is actively working to add this documentation to the user manual and this documentation will be added in the coming weeks.

The team always encourages their fellow members to suggest additions or updates to the user manual by commenting suggestions or amendments on relevant pages where documentation is needed. The team then reviews the suggested changes and updates the manual as appropriate.

Hi Jessica,

Ok, thanks for confirming! I hope my question didn't come across as criticism; that was not my intention at all. I wasn't aware of the commenting functionality on the ArchivesSpace Help Center pages, that's good to know.

Best,

Ron
