release candidate available - ArchivesSpace v4.2.0-RC1

Hello ArchivesSpace members,
The ArchivesSpace team is pleased to announce a release candidate, v4.2.0-RC1. You can download it directly from GitHub or test it out without downloading on our release testing server (http://rebranch.archivesspace.org/staff - please note this is different from our usual test server but the login is the same, username admin / password admin).
This release candidate contains bug fixes and some small feature improvements. Bug fixes include correcting an issue with the download of the PDF on the public interface on mobile devices and correcting an issue that prevented setting a user as inactive in the staff interface in some places. Small feature improvements include the addition of a configuration to set which fields are included when the Duplicate Resource functionality in the staff interface is used and a new option to exclude URIs from PDFs downloaded from the staff interface. There are also various small fixes to improve accessibility, particularly for the public interface.
Some important notes on dependencies and technologies: Support for Solr 9.9 and Java 21 has been added for this release. Because of upcoming upgrades to our version of jRuby, version 4.2.x of the application will be the last that will support Java 11. (If using docker, you do not need to worry about these dependencies.)
The standard words of caution about testing your plugins apply. A table showing notable dependency updates that may be helpful for identifying whether your plugins are likely to have issues is included with the release notes.

Please test this release candidate as you are able and send all feedback to Archives...@lyrasis.org by March 27. Based on the results of this feedback period, we will determine when to release the production version of 4.2.0.
