Bulk Update Deletes

By default, deleting notes and dates via the bulk update tool is disabled, and can be toggled by setting  AppConfig[:bulk_archival_object_updater_apply_deletes].  From the Help Center:

"As not all subrecord fields have a corresponding column in the spreadsheet, you may unwittingly drop a subrecord which has data in other fields."

We have use cases for deleting subrecords, such as consolidating notes and removing redundant dates, so enabling deletes via the updater is appealing.  However, the warning in the documentation is giving us pause.  Are there specific cases/examples where data would inadvertently be deleted by the bulk updater?

I can't answer this directly but it strikes me as an additional argument in favor of this ticket, which would expand the spreadsheet to include all fields. I might mention this issue there.

Hello,

 

We’ve enabled deletes after testing, as we have needed to bulk delete notes. We have not encountered (so far) use cases where we have inadvertently dropped data.

 

We agree with the ticket for all notes fields to be included in the exports (we’ve had use cases for a while in our workflows in which we’ve needed this)

 

We’ve also needed the ability for newly added notes to come in as published; we’re unsure this feature is being considered.
