Hi everyone,

We have run into an issue where someone was gradually adding archival objects to a bulk update spreadsheet in the hopes that they could reimport the spreadsheet with new archival objects in a specific order. They know now that the bulk update spreadsheet is only for updating existing archival objects. Unfortunately, they had already added over 1,100 archival objects to the bulk update spreadsheet in alphabetical order. Does anyone have suggestions for how to rectify the situation without needing to manually reorder over a thousand archival objects in reorder mode or deleting the finding aid and starting a new bulk archival object spreadsheet import?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I recommend using the bulk importer spreadsheet. It will not intersperse items to make everything alphabetical but you can insert the entire bulk import alphabetically. At that point you will most likely have to manually reorder. Its limiting. I wanted to do the same.

I opened this JIRA ticket on the topic. https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/ANW-2413

There may be a programmatic way of doing this, perhaps someone created a tool/plug in?

LMK if you figure it out.

Cheers
