Digital Objects added but not added

Hello, 

I recently bulk added several image to one of our finding aids, and everything seemed to go fine.  No errors, images showed up on the front end, all good. But, one of the images was uploaded to the wrong folder - do to an error on our end - so I want to delete it and replace it with the correct one.  I go to do so, and encountered something weird - the backend doesn't have a record of that digital object.  I can't edit or delete the digital object because, for all appearances, it doesn't exist.  After some digging, it looks like while on the front end all the images loaded correctly and link out fine, on the back end a fair number of the objects don't exist.  

Does anyone know what could have caused this, or, more importantly, how I can alter existing but not existing objects?

 I'm sure what could've happened, but I'd start with a full reindex.  That will at least rule out indexing weirdness as the issue

After that is done, if things are still off, I would start looking directly at the MySQL db.
