Volunteer for ArchivesSpace Governance groups - call for nominations coming soon!

Volunteers are the lifeblood of ArchivesSpace, and getting involved in ArchivesSpace governance is a great way to build leadership skills, make connections across the community, and increase your familiarity with the application. The Nominating Committee will soon be making a call for new members for our User Advisory Council, Technical Advisory Council, and Governance Board for terms beginning on July 1, 2026. All terms are three years, with some possibilities for continuing after that time based on position.

The official calls for nominations will go out across many ArchivesSpace and archives channels in April. In the meantime, if you are interested in getting involved in the ArchivesSpace community in this way, please contact Christine Di Bella, Senior Program Manager, at christin...@lyrasis.org, for more information.

Member-only training opportunity: Using the ArchivesSpace API

Thank you all for your interest in our upcoming API training pilot. There was a great deal of interest in this hands-on learning opportunity, and we know registration filled quickly. Our goal is to learn from this training pilot and use it to inform future hands-on API training opportunities.  While we hope to learn much from this training pilot and to offer a training like this again, we do not have any specific plans to offer this training again in the near future.

If you’re interested in upcoming ArchivesSpace training opportunities, you can always view the full training schedule for the year on our website at https://archivesspace.org/resources/user-resources/trainings.

If you’re interested in learning about the ArchivesSpace API more broadly, we have several recorded sessions related to using the ArchivesSpace API on our YouTube channel.  This
Introduction to the ArchivesSpace API is a great place to begin.

Member Match Program 2026-2027 Apply Now

The ArchivesSpace Member Engagement sub-team is now accepting applications for the sixth cohort of the ArchivesSpace Member Match program.

The Member Match program is an initiative to engage individuals in the ArchivesSpace membership community, created and organized by the Member Engagement sub-team of the ArchivesSpace User Advisory Council, with support from the ArchivesSpace Community Engagement Lead. The program is intended to be a resource and venue for peer-to-peer support between individuals working in ArchivesSpace member institutions.

For one year-long term Member Match participants will be matched with an individual member at another institution with whom they can receive and offer professional insight, advice, and comradery. The program will also offer participants the opportunity to engage in exclusive events and enlightening discussions about ArchivesSpace and its active user community.

Registration available: Overview of the ArchivesSpace application and membership benefits

ArchivesSpace is offering a 60-minute demonstration of the ArchivesSpace application open to anyone interested in ArchivesSpace or ArchivesSpace membership. This demonstration will be offered on April 6, 2026 at 12:00pm EST.

This demo will feature an overview of the application, a brief explanation of the ArchivesSpace Staff and Public User Interfaces and an introduction to the ArchivesSpace member community and member benefits.  A brief Q&A will follow the demo.  These demos are intended to assist those who are considering using the ArchivesSpace application at their organization to determine if ArchivesSpace is the right tool for their needs.

You can register for this upcoming demo or watch a previous demo of ArchivesSpace at https://archivesspace.org/application/demo.

Sign up for a focus group on data migration into ArchivesSpace

Are you planning or currently undertaking a migration out of your archival management system? Are you interested in ArchivesSpace? Have you encountered migration challenges that you’d like to discuss? Join the ArchivesSpace program team for a focus group on archival migrations, to be scheduled in April or May 2026.

The ArchivesSpace program team has received an increase in migration inquiries, and we want to know more about how we can support the metadata, functionality, and workflow needs of users considering a move to ArchivesSpace. Topics discussed in the focus group may include data mapping and metadata formats, data export and import tools, authorities, third party integrations and aggregators, and technical and community support.

Please
fill out this form by April 10, 2026 if you are planning or undertaking a migration of your archival management system and are interested in taking part in a focus group to be scheduled with form respondents in April or May 2026. Any questions can be directed to ArchivesSpace Standards and Testing Archivist Martha Tenney (martha...@lyrasis.org).

Member Match First Friday Events Ongoing

The Member Engagement Sub-team continues the Member Match First Friday Breaks, an informal monthly peer-to-peer discussion opening with any and all questions about ArchivesSpace!

Please note that the April event will be the 2nd Friday (April 10) at 12:30pm-1:30pm EST/9:30am-10:30am PT. Member Engagement sub-team invites all Member Match participants to join us for an hour to discuss all things ArchivesSpace and beyond. This is an opportunity for participants to meet other program participants outside their match and to interact with the team without an agenda.

If you are a current Member Match participant interested in attending these sessions, please check the announcement in the member match listserv for connection information.

We hope to see you there, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions!

Save the date: May 12 at 12:30 EST will be our Member Match Quarterly mixer.  Please stay tuned to the Member Match Listserv for registration information and updates.

Share your thoughts on ArchivesSpace-ICA standards mappings

The ArchivesSpace program team is working on a project to enhance ArchivesSpace support and documentation for ISAD(G), ISAAR (CPF), ISDF, and ISDIAH-compliant archival description as part of a broader effort to support users outside the U.S.

Documentation of proposed mappings for which ArchivesSpace fields can be used to represent ICA standards-compliant description is available
here. Eventually, the goal is to incorporate these mappings into tooltips in the core code (like the current DACS guidance in tooltips) and/or user documentation. The plan doesn't currently include any changes to ArchivesSpace functionality, fields, or import/export mappings.

We are seeking your feedback on these mappings, particularly if you create ICA standards-compliant description:
