Hi All,

Perhaps I am in a total fog and missing this, but is there a way to search within a collection with the record open from the Staff interface? Or is there a plug in for that?

A basic search in ASpace staff side just pulls everything as a result. Then we can only further filter slightly from there but also does not highlight results or show buried content.

I can use the find feature of the browser to search but it will only search the text of the what is actually displayed on screen so it will not search within the hierarchy and the records of child records. Maybe this is in the new release?

Hope this makes sense.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks
Cheers
Sarit

Hi Sarit

I've had to resort to a plugin to do this. I don't think anything like this is available in the core code. The plugin is very tied to our specific setup, but basically you need an indexer field that is unique to that resource that appears on all the objects in the resource hierarchy. Then you create a custom search query using that field as an additional filter. This also allows you to filter by collection in the staff view.

I *may* have some time to make this plugin a bit more setup agnostic. If I do, I'll create a public repo for it.

Best,
Joshua

Hi Sarit,

My quick and dirty solution is to switch to edit mode and then click on the "Auto Expand All" button and then use the browser search.

Otherwise, add the collection identifier in universal search usually pulls only items from that collection.

Hope that helps or that someone has a better solution.

Best,
Anton

My hacky solution:

Browse > Resources

Use left side to filter text to the resource URI in quotes, ex. “/repositories/2/resources/15”

Then use left side to Show Components

This works because AOs reference their parent URIs in the indexed data (pretty sure that’s the explanation), which is invisible in the SUI but not to the indexer.
