Straw Poll: What do you put in the Subject/Agent Authority ID field? URI or control number?

Hi folks,

We're revisiting our local ArchivesSpace policy, and one question that has come up is how to use the Authority ID field in Agent and Subject records.

Our cataloger would like us to use URIs (e.g. http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2023000618)

The LCNAF Import plugin uses the LC control no. (e.g. sh2023000618)

Which do you use?

Hi Celia,

We've always used the URI, so we have thousands of Agents/Subjects formatted that way.   We were stuck on an old, plug-in-less, version of ArchivesSpace for many years, so got used to entering names and terms manually (and minimally).  Now that we could use the import plug-in, the use of Control Numbers instead of URIs has been a reason we've been reluctant to adopt it.  The more robust records would be great, but I don't want to risk accidental duplication.
