Hey,
I am one of the co-leaders for Amnesty International and I think this might be something our group would be interested in helping out with. If Karissa is going to speak on Oct 19 in the SOS room then I can be there!
Do you know if Global Concerns has heard about this yet? I might try emailing them separately, I think several of those groups would be willing to help out as well.

I received the following email from Karissa:
"Hey,

I have a question for you. Someone told me you are the president of SHOC, and I was wondering if you wanted to help me out with a project I was  hoping to get started. I'll try to keep it brief, and you can let me know if your group would be interested in helping me out. If not, I completely understand.

So my sister Danielle is in Afghanistan and she asked me to start a fundraiser to raise used shoes, jackets, sweaters, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and hand sanitizer for the families she works with in Afghanistan. We could put collections in the local churches or do an event, but we would also need to raise some money to pay for the shipping.

This is just tentative and I'd be happy to go in to greater detail if you want to chat. Thanks for all your group does.

Regards,

Karissa

I briefly discussed the matter with her further, and she noted her hopes to utilize the resources of multiple groups on campus. As president of SHOC, this seems like an adequate opportunity for doing good at base level, as well as furthering Luther organizations' coordination capacities with future projects in mind. Practically speaking, SHOC will have to wait until our Clothes4Souls operation is concluded (at the end of October).
Karissa is very willing to make her pitch, but it may be best if we could do so with the multiple group leaders as an audience.
If, as leader of a campus organization, this sounds worthwhile, please help begin coordinating with a reply.
