Libertarian Vanguard:
Libertarian Vanguard is still trying to hammer out a few basics. I'm
going to say here that despite assertions to the contrary, Libertarian
Vanguard really needs to hold a real time meeting to get things properly
rolling again. Hopefully we will be able to give a report next month.
Branding:
At the California convention, I saw photos of some of our brochures on
yellow paper. I can only conclude that these are the white template
brochures printed in black and white on this paper, a use case the
template was not designed for, which at a minimum puts our logo out of spec.
I put together a template that IS designed for this purpose, and also
woodcut implementations of the gradient mesh outline logo. This part
was successful.
We have template-level problems with all of our brochures, however.
Problem one: The 800 number to call for information has been
discontinued. 800-Elect-Us features prominently on our brochures.
Barring finding a way to take over this phone number, possibly in
coordination with LP Alliance or similar, it needs to be removed from
our brochure templates.
Problem two: Whereas our domain name situation is still unresolved as of
the last time I checked, we have a domain name on our brochures that
potentially may cease to function and will instead go to a
cybersquatting landing page, a PageRank manipulation page with garbage
content, or a Japanese language site promoting things that social
conservatives would very much not approve of.
Given that we how have 27 brochure implementations that fall under
materials, I'm calling work stoppage until problem two is resolved. We
need a solid, permanently reliable domain name. Either we get
LPRadicalCaucus.org fixed (if this is actually possible), we migrate to
RadicalCaucus.org, or we migrate to a different domain, such as our
recently recovered domain from 15 years ago. I do not want to make
changes that I will want to turn right around and re-do all over again
in a few months or even weeks.
Materials:
Help is needed to make LPRC buttons for upcoming state conventions and
outreach buttons for upcoming to imminent non-LP events.
Events:
California: A break in the communication chain meant that a package from
Eric that arrived Wednesday before the convention wasn't picked up until
Saturday evening. The package I sent did not arrive until Saturday.
I'm hoping Richard, Joe, or Mary can fill in more details.
Hawaii's state convention may be online only; I'm still trying to find
out with greater certainty. I believe Colorado has a date, but I'm not
sure what it is. I've misplaced the date for South Carolina. I believe
there's at least one more state convention.
Hiking Crowder's Mountain happens on Saturday the 23rd (end of this week).
