Bryan, I'm copying others so they can respond. I'm not personally familiar with the procedures in a situation like yours where you win 2 positions. Please call your county elections department and ask what the process is, or perhaps Chuck or Jenn (copied) will know. If you have trouble, please let me know and I'll try to help further.

Chuck and Jenn, see Bryan's question below.

I thought that if I step down, my "election committee" would select someone?

Hi Bryan,

Correct, I don't think you can accept both Auditor and Judge Of Elections. I'm not aware of anyone interested in serving as Judge Of Elections in your area, although even if I was, I think they'd have to apply for the opening through a process the elections process prescribes. So, I'm probably not going to find someone unless something comes to my attention for some reason.

In any case, glad to hear you won two races (even though neither was School Board), and I wish you the best.

I'm copying some others in PA to keep in the loop.

Incidentally,  do you know of someone who would be willing to take the judge of elections position. I don't know that its legal to hold both positions

There was actually more write in votes than a few candidates got, so i guess there was a grass roots movement

Bryan Leroy Byers,

Will you try a simple write-in campaign? It's possible you could win
with just 3 or so votes. Even if you win, you can change your mind later
and decline to serve.

It's possible somebody else might run a write-in campaign, but often
nobody else does. We had 15 win offices via write-ins in 2019. If you do
try this, I suggest you attempt to get around 3 to 5 write-in votes. If
someone else mounts a serious write-in effort, they'll likely have
dozens of votes and that's hard to beat. But sometimes all it takes is 3
votes to win when no candidate officially appears on the ballot.

You can simply print out a few slips of paper and hand them to people
that say:

"Write-in Bryan Leroy Byers for School Board South Butler County "

You don't have to collect any petition signatures and you don't have to
file any paperwork unless you win and decide to serve. If you do it,
after election day, you just contact the county elections office, tell
them your name and the office you are interested in, and ask them if you
won. It's super simple.

What do you think?
