We have an email ballot.  Votes are due to the LNC Business List on this email thread by 11:59 pm Pacific Time on January 19, 2024.


Motion:  Appoint Ms. Jennifer Haubein from TX to the Convention Oversight Committee.

No.  The application process for this appointment should be publicized/opened up to all members, and a full slate of candidates evaluated by the LNC, as we've done in the past.

Madame Chair, point of inquiry.  Back at the DC meeting in August, didn't we appoint a non-LNC member out of a group of applicants at the recommendation of the CoC chair and Ms. Haubein applied at that time and now is recommended by the current CoC Chair?

Prior failures to open the nominating process does not mean we should continue this practice. Voting would imply there was an opportunity to see a resume, or some other compelling reason for the committee to install a member to the COC. I would like to assume my esteemed colleagues made informed, and well-considered decisions by their vote.

I believe you did not understand the prior information given by the Chair whom you can contact off list to see Ms. Haubein's resume.  The rest of your esteemed colleagues have seen it.

Perhaps I did miss that. When and where was her resume distributed? Is there some reason we have not been using the nominating process to fill vacancies?

We called for nominations on 1/7.  No one had any.  The last application package was distributed at the DC meeting.  Ms. Haubien is also a member of your region.

We have work to do.  Now.
