Let's not drop the ball this time - mandates are coming back just as I said they would.  We need a committee to work tirelessly with our communications director to make sure we redeem ourselves from our past failures on this issue.  Please.  Yes my words are blunt.  This is striking at the core of our freedom and we must ruthlessly speak out.

Libertarian Party of Nevada

Alicia,

Government overreach never rests. Less than two months since the state-wide mask mandate was lifted, officials in Clark County instituted a new mandate for all employees in the county. We at the Libertarian Party of Nevada stand in vehement opposition to this policy. Individuals and businesses are capable of making their own risk assessments. The invasiveness of a mask mandate is hard to overstate. These petty tyrants are literally telling you what to wear, and placing their own judgement between you and a breath of fresh air.

We invite all libertarians in Las Vegas and the surrounding area to join us in protesting this obscenity. Saturday, July 31st at 11:00 AM we will be lending our voice to the outcry against this policy. Come together outside of the Southern Nevada Health District at 280 S. Decatur Blvd. in Las Vegas. RSVP via Meetup or Facebook.

It’s important to remember that this isn’t just about a mask. It’s about taking a strong stand against the authoritarian push to normalize this level of government control over the average person. The commission meeting that spawned this policy also saw other ideas aired - such as a second lockdown, and a requirement that businesses mandate vaccination for their employees (you can read more about this on our blog). We unequivocally oppose all such measures, and encourage all people to resist and to refuse to comply to the greatest extent possible.

In internal party news, the Libertarian Party of Nevada has a special convention scheduled less than two weeks away. The purpose of this special convention is to vote on bylaw amendments that were proposed for the last state convention, but not addressed due to venue time constraints.

The full text of all the proposed amendments can be found on the event page, and there are several items of importance to be addressed. One of the proposed changes is to decrease state membership dues from $60 annually to $25. Others would add members to the executive committee, and there is one proposal to change the stated purpose of the party.

Please prioritize your attendance on Saturday, August 7th at 11:00 AM! Your voice is important, and this is one opportunity to have an impact on the direction of the Libertarian Party of Nevada. We want you to be a part of the action.

Please note that to vote on the amendments you must be a dues paying member of the party - which means you are registered to vote as a Libertarian in the state of Nevada and you have donated at least $60 to the party within the past 365 days. Please take action to update your voter registration and pay your dues beforehand. The convention will be held remotely and should be accessible to all. We sincerely hope to see you there as we continue to move the Party forward in the direction of liberty for all.

Great point. Does the ad hoc you formed earlier in the year have any ideas or suggestions in the wings?

Yes  - the Already Against the Mandate drive which I didn’t start as it was set up right as mandates were loosening and I wanted to see when they started again.  I’m more than willing to turn over that asset to the national party if we adopt an appropriate messaging direction.

Even if unofficial,

I would certainly like to be a part of it, especially in relation to lockdowns and government overreach which was precipitous in the Florida Keys.

Sincerely,

I cannot serve on any such committee but we need this.  I have asked for agenda time for the September meeting.

We just had an appeals meeting on this topic. It would be great if we have actions identified to direct fundraising towards. Comms can always message but if we have things planned to combat the mandates please keep myself or Michelle MacCutcheon in the loop.

I think the Already Against the Next Mandate is ideea for the National Party to pick up and run with.

If we were to make an appeal, I believe it would be in the interest of members to see that money going towards candidate support as to see more Libertarians in office who will fight against lockdowns and mandates.

That is what we had happen in FL with our Newberry mayor, Jordan Marlowe, steadfast against such measures in his city and using resource to help those in need (such as using the parks and rec dept to deliver food to the vulnerable instead of laying off staff and returning utility deposits to customers) instead of intense lockdowns.

That may be a good point for an appeal too, is to see what actions elected Libertarians took in the face of overwhelming government overreach.

Sincerely,

Steven Nekhaila

I think we need to do appeals in training libertarians to also fight this and other encroachmens as private citi\zens.  For example testifying at local town council meetings.  I have been doing education on this on my youtube channel.
