No NJ resident will be eligible for nomination, but NJLP is permitted to make nominations.
All states will have the same number of nomination 'slots' which they may use to nominate eligible persons.
Nominees must be current members in good standing of the National LP.
It was suggested that each state receive 2 slots for nomination, including NJ. NJ is open to suggestions for nominees.
No state is required to use all their slots.
NOTA is always appropriate and will be on the ballot in all cases.
A schedule was proposed:
Opening of Nominations = Thursday July 1st
Closing of Nominations and delivering the names to NJLP Chair Krause - Wednesday the 27th of July by 11:59 pm.
Gathering of Chairs via Zoom call for consideration of nominees and vote - Sunday August 1st at 6pm
If a delay is required for any reason, then the Nominations must be delivered no later than 96 hours before the vote [4 days].
In the case of electronic voting, polling will be open for 24 hours after the close of the gathering on the 1st.
Nominees will be permitted to address the Chairs before the vote
A nominee may lobby as they see fit.
We will vote via Secret ballot, using Opavote. Rep. Bowen will lead the setting up of the Opavote system. Chair Krause will receive the results of the voting if simultaneous delivery is not possible.
Formal questions for the Nominees happen on the 1st, with a structure as follows:
Each of us chairs should be allowed to ask (up to) five questions that all the candidates answer.
Questions should not be compound, repeat previously asked questions, or be used to convey the positions on issues.
Questions should be only designed to yield new information.
