Motion:
WHEREAS, the Federal Government created the Federal Reserve in 1913; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Government ended the Gold Standard in 1971, allowing the Federal Government to create money out of thin air;
WHEREAS, we appear to be entering another major bank "crisis" in March of 2023, resulting in calls from most corners of the political world, for another round of depositor bailouts; be it
RESOLVED, That the Libertarian National Committee calls for an end of this cycle, by standing against any "emergency" despositor bailouts, which could eventually lead to a complete collapse of the banking system; and Further
RESOLVED, that the Libertarian National Committee calls for free market monetarism so that the money that hard-working Americans earn, and save, will have more protection from government-caused inflation, which we declare as a overt form of theft; and Further
RESOLVED, that the Libertarian National Committee calls for an end to Government-backed guarantees of the FDIC, and require insurance companies to develop their own products for deposit insurance, and allow banks to make insurance requirements at their discretion, as an initial step towards forcing the banks to be more accountable for their decisions; and Further
RESOLVED, that the Libertarian National Committee calls for an end to the Federal Reserve System, which directly manipulates the banking market, consumer borrowing costs, and inflation rates. The elimination of the Federal Reserve System, an end of Government-backed guarantees of the FDIC, in conjunction with an end to Government controlled money, will bring the country back to a free market banking system.
