Motion to suspend Richard Longstreth

In light of this board thinking it's ok to remove an officer for decorum. 

Mr. Longstreth has many times broken decorum on this list, and even yelled like a wild person in our online meeting effectively embarrassing this board in front of 500 members. For repeated infractions of the same rules he thinks it's worth removing Mrs. Harlos for, I move the following motion...

Motion: The Libertarian National Committee hereby suspends Richard Longstreth from his role of At Large Representative on the LNC for a pattern of repeated unprofessional behavior and conduct unbecoming of a national officer per Article 7.5 of the Libertarian Party’s Bylaws.

The only comment I have on this is that I will not appeal the decision if this passes. If that's the will of the body and they believe that the best way to move this party forward, I accept.

I will not defend any charges, either, on the email ballot, essentially waiving my right to trial and letting LNC decide right away.

Okay, now I will respond.  I think Mr. Smith’s motion proved a very real rhetorical point about the hypocritical actions taking place all over this board.  I was literally screamed at at the Tues excom but nobody said a thing.  Mr. Longstreth starts an email with essentially “I am purposefully breaking decorum here….” There is a double-standard.  Everyone sees it.  Always has been.  Sometimes it is on gender lines, sometimes ideological lines, mostly a mixture.  

However, I realize Mr. Longstreth busted hump to make it here, and I am not so vindictive to exact what I would view as retaliatory revenge.  I don’t do that to people no matter what they do to me.  It is my faith.  Not everyone interprets the same faith the same way nor does everyone have a religious belief.  That is the beauty of our movement.  But in short, I will NOT do unto others as they have done unto me.   No one would like that very much.  Go in peace Mr. Longstreth, you yelled,  you behaved rudely, and you are denying me due process.  I will live and it is not worth trying to politically destroy you.  In destroying others, we destroy ourselves.

Changed my mind, I will say something else and to appease all of the people spreading hate: I cosponsor this. You need two more Mr. Smith. 

I'm doing this because clearly I am so egregiously wrong that I deserve to be harassed literally any time I say anything now. Let's get this over with.

Heaven forbid someone see what they view as inappropriate behavior, corruption, etc (read my original statements), that they blow a whistle, and get over a majority support on their arguments (meaning over half this board agrees with my assessment!).

I tire of harassment and being told I am inappropriate for stating my sought out opinion. Grow. Up.

That is very indecorous Mr. Longstreth and intemperate.  I refuse to co-sponsor.  This type of targeting each other for removal for nothing more than passion needs to stop. People are holding you to the same standards you are going after me on.  That is not harassment.  I want the whole thing to end. I will not return what I see to be evil for evil.

Mr Longstreth, I believe it is you who needs to grow up. The fact that you can't see this motion as highlighting your own hypocrisy in your own actions that have been no different than Mrs. Harlos' (if not worse) is astounding. Absolutely astounding. 

Any "hate" you have coming your way is due to your own actions. Take responsibility. You have a vendetta that you are taking out on a great Secretary. The party members can see this list publicly. You're free to take any action you want, but you are not free from criticism. You're doing the wrong things. Members that elected you to represent them are telling you that you're doing the wrong things. The biggest region in the LP was likely to remove Mr. Wednt just for voting yes on your motion. If you can't understand that you're going against a sizeable majority of our membership, then I don't know what to tell you. Don't expect everyone to coddle you.

I remember once back in school during a lacrosse tournament a fight broke out, my team and I got involved with the other team, parents got involved, everyone but the referee’s were involved in the fight. In the end the police broke it up, and they said that because there were so many people involved that they wouldn’t be pressing charges.

Much like that day on the field, emotions overtook sportsmanship and everyone got involved in the fray. The LNC, members, god knows who else. The fact that so many people are involved tells me that we shouldn’t be pointing blame to any particular individual. 

We ought to take this to an in-person LNC meeting and see if we are still willing to go through this process face to face, and with proper due process for appeals in place as well.
