Madam Chair,

I see three substantive changes here:

1. The change of wording from "...donated..." to "...paid..."
2. The change from "...prior 12 months..." to "...past 365 days..."
3. The requirement that the payment be a single transaction when before there was no requirement.

If I'm understanding the problem correctly, namely that it's difficult to differentiate between a payment for goods or services from a pure donation in the CRM, then I see why the first change is needed, but not the other two. The second change isn't enough of a difference for me to worry about but the requirement that the payment be done in a single transaction seems to me to somewhat discourage recurring donations, which I had thought was something that the party wanted to encourage. Is there something that I'm missing here which makes the single transaction requirement necessary?

Change 2 is necessary as month is amiguous.... what part of the month?  The designation of days is clearer for the CRM.

The second part is also a CRM issue.  Recurring donations and fundraising goals are not a concern of the bylaws.  The bylaws need to deal with membership/. What makes the single transaction necessary is the nightmares our current defintion is causing.

Let's say you give $5 in January, then again in March, and then $15 in May.  In May you then become a BSM member because you have given. $25 in the last 12 months.  But your membership does not expire in May the next year.  It expires in January.  Memberships are intended to be for a full year.

I would add that IF the dues amount is changed to $50 that helps the fundraising issue, but even if not, the bylaws allow the LNC to set additional membership levels to encourage monthly donations.
