[Bylaws Committee 2024]

Once I am sure everyone is properly getting emails on this list and responds we will proceed to the following:

1.  I will send you each a Welcome Manual explaining a lot and likely answering a lot of your questions.

2.  Set up a Doodle Poll for the first meeting

3. Start nominations for permanent Committee Chair and Secretary.  I have been appointed as the Interim Chair by the Committee to facilitate this process.  Let's wait until we get to this step to even get into all of that, because sometimes getting everyone posting properly can take a bit.

I know there are a couple of people not available until after Thanksgiving, so don't expect much activity until after Thanksgiving but I would like everyone to check in and get their copy of the Welcome Manual.  I am attaching it here but but I will also make sure it is posted again in a separate thread, this is something I started with the Platform Committee and found it very helpful.

I do see one correction I need to make to an appendix as I was modifying the platform committee submission form so the modification threshold is slightly different.  I will take care of that in a V2 of the manual.  This is the first time I have modified it for Bylaws so I expect there will be a few stray corrections.

For those who wish to know prior to my corrections, amendments to the bylaws require a 2/3 vote on the flow (not proposals in committee) and amendments to the convention standing rules require a majority.  I will modify the form footnote to say that and anywhere else relevant.

Thank you, here is V2.  And I said something incorrect earlier, the convention special rules of order also require a 2/3 vote (though with notice which our bylaws do not require for themselves oddly enough) or a majority of the entire convention membership.   That is reflected in V2 attached.

Be safe!  In order to honour the wishes of several members who told me they were on politics break until after Thanksgiving the only things happening between then and now will be administrative.

I am James Data Logan. I usually just go by my middle name, Data, which
was self-chosen based on my love of Start Trek and analytical analysis.
I also have great passion for balance and fairness.
I am a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians.
I live in Bremerton, WA, sorta near Seattle, though with a lot less
traffic and more waterfalls.
I am married with 2 school-age kids.
I work primarily as a financial advisor / investment broker / insurance
salesman.
I have been an active member of the Libertarian party for about 10 years
now, every since getting out of active-duty military service with the US
Navy (where I was a submarine officer).
I serve as chair of the Libertarian Party of Kitsap County in Washington
state and
secretary of the Libertarian Party of Washington (state)
