Thank you to our community members Shilpy, Jacob, and Gopal, led by Preston Lee for working collaboratively to identify the cause of the Logica Sandbox login issue.
While they were able to implement a mitigation allowing the Sandbox Manager to be accessed, this required limiting some of the features of the Sandbox. Notably, DSTU2 and STU3 sandboxes are no longer officially supported, and continued use is not advised. Certain static images (e.g. jpg) for the built-in Sandbox apps (Bilirubin, Growth Chart) may not appear, though launching of these apps still works. Prior known issues such as the EHR Simulator not functioning, the open endpoint toggling problem, and older pre-release R5 support were not addressed during this effort. There may be other functionality deficits that the team can identify.
It is clear that the Sandbox reliability is declining. Updates to the Sandbox have been challenging due to limited developer hours and funding to update and maintain the Sandbox. HL7 is moving forward on our vision of a testing ecosystem called the HL7® FHIR® Foundry. We shared this vision via an Expression of Interest released in April of this year, with responses due in May 19, 2023, and are reviewing responses and developing an iterative plan to enable the Foundry to support testing, similar to the Logica Sandbox. Documents related to the EOI are attached.
We will be providing an update at the September HL7 Connectathon (https://hl7.my.site.com/LightningMemberPortal/s/lt-event?id=a1Y7V00000ZjWLwUAN ) for those attending in person. We will have a public webinar in the near future for those not able to attend the Connectathon.
In the interim, we ask all Sandbox users to:
- Completely export and delete all older DSTU2 and STU3 sandboxes, as these data should be considered “at risk”.
- Delete all other unused sandboxes.
