Hi Matt,
I am sorry to be so slow responding.
We have not been working with the vendors yet to encourage rapid implementation of these COVID-19 related FHIR profiles. That is probably something we need to do.
In general, the availability of the COVID FHIR services will be different from each vendor. Unfortunately there is no central tracking of what is available from who. The only way that I know to get the schedule is to go to each vendor’s FHIR web page, and even then the level of detail that you need may not be available. You may need to contact someone at the vendor company to get the detail that you need. Many of the generic FHIR resources (Patient, Provider, Observation, etc.) are already available. However, for COVID-19 related lab data, travel history, contact information, etc. new mappings need to be made between the internal concept identifiers and standard LOINC and SNOMED CT codes. I don’t know how much of that work has been done, and again, it will be different from each vendor.
All of that being said, my best guess is that unless there is substantial pressure from their customers it will take weeks or months for the new data elements to be made available in EHR systems. Stan
