Hello Pirate Family and Happy Memorial Day Weekend Friday!

This is such an exciting time of year for our community, as many of us look forward to the “unofficial” start of summer. Whether it’s getting out on the lakes, riding or walking the trails, or simply relaxing with a nap on the deck, this weekend often marks the beginning of a favorite season for so many. While we have experienced a few brief glimpses of summer-like weather already, we are hopeful for more consistency in the days ahead.

For many, this holiday weekend also brings opportunities for yardwork, planting flowers, barbecues, or perhaps a relaxing trip up north. At the same time, I hope we all take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day. The freedoms and blessings we enjoy in this country have come at a tremendous cost, and many within our Pirate community have personally experienced the profound loss of a United States service member. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifice of their families, must never be forgotten. After all, freedom is never free. 🇺🇸♥️

Our sense of pride—district-wide, community-wide, and nationwide—is one of the hallmarks of Pirate Nation. I encourage you to join us in honoring our fallen heroes at the Memorial Day parades: 10:00 AM in the Village of Hamburg and 1:00 PM in the Village of Pinckney. These events include meaningful ceremonies that pay tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our country. There’s truly nothing like a small-town parade filled with pride, unity, and respect.🏴‍☠️🇺🇸

Congratulations to our 2026 LINK Graduates!! We had such a special morning this past Wednesday recognizing and celebrating with Breanna Bracher, Chloe Dault, Lachlan Kauserud, Trinity Lewandowski, Ella Seal, Vaughn Tarbet, Maddi Walker, Brian Widner and their families as these students have demonstrated such a high level of perseverance and resilience in finishing what they started! We are so proud of what you have accomplished! GO PIRATES!!🏴‍☠️🎓

Congratulations to our "Small but Mighty" PIRATES as our girls Track & Field team walked away with another MHSAA D2 Regional Championship in Chelsea this afternoon! These young ladies are such hard workers who continue to push forward against teams who may be bigger in size, but definitely not in heart! Additionally, the Pinckney boys track team will be sending six athletes to the MHSAA State meet! Austin Ouillette - 300H, Sam Burtts - 110HH, Dane Losee, Lincoln Reed, Cole McCraw, and John Rochowiak - 4 x 800 relay. Cole McCraw also qualified in the 3200. Let's go Pirates!! 🏴‍☠️

When our students and staff return next Tuesday, we’ll be down to just 8½ days of school—hard to believe, isn’t it? We’re excited to make the most of each of those days together, filled with special moments like yearbook signing, field day fun, end-of-year award ceremonies, and, for our seniors, the beloved “Clap Out” tradition happening Thursday morning following graduation rehearsal.

Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing, and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. We look forward to welcoming our Pirates back on Tuesday.

May God bless our Pirate Nation, our military members and their families, and the United States of America! 🏴‍☠️🇺🇸🏴‍☠️🇺🇸
