Hello Pirate Family and Happy "New Year" Friday!
We hope you had a joyful and refreshing holiday break filled with laughter, relaxation, and special moments with loved ones. As we jump into January, we know seasonal illnesses, especially the flu, are making the rounds in our school and community. Even so, the excitement of coming back together as a Pirate community has been energizing! Seeing our students’ big smiles and happy reunions with friends has been truly heartwarming and a wonderful reminder of what makes our school such a special place.
This week kicked off our second semester, bringing an exciting fresh start for our middle and high school students as they begin new classes and new learning opportunities. All of our teachers have been working diligently to wrap up first semester and second quarter grades, which will be available MONDAY to both students and parents through the MiStar parent portal.
January is not just the start of a new year and semester—it’s also School Board Appreciation Month. We’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to an exceptional team that dedicates their time and energy to serving our students, staff, parents, and the entire community. Their unwavering commitment to the values of the Pinckney Pirate community inspires us all and reflects our shared goal of fostering a special place where students can learn, grow, and succeed.
Please join me in showing our appreciation to:
Thank you for your leadership, passion, and dedication to making a difference in our district!
As shared in a text earlier today, our schools (with the exception of the high school) experienced a brief power outage this morning that lasted approximately 15 minutes. During that time, our staff did a wonderful job maintaining routines and ensuring students remained calm, safe, and supported. While we began preparing contingency plans in the event an early release became necessary, power was quickly restored and the school day continued as normal. We wanted to be sure you were aware, should your child mention the brief outage at school today.
Please be aware that this Friday's Family Fun Night (1/9) will be limited to only swimming at the complex pool, including the cancellation of open adult volleyball at Navigator. This is due to the preparation that is needed in our gyms for the youth basketball tournament we are hosting on Saturday. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your support.
I’d like to close by sharing some wonderful photos from an event that took place this morning at Country Elementary, perfectly timed with today’s brief power outage 😉. The activity, called “Be a Lighthouse,” helped students learn what it means to be a bright light of positivity in their classroom, school, family, and community.
This meaningful work aligns beautifully with both our Pirate Ship system and the Positivity Project, reinforcing our shared commitment to helping students grow into true beacons of light within our Pirate community. I am incredibly proud of the work happening across our entire district and grateful for our strong partnership with families and the community as we work together to develop the next generation of Pirates, grounded in kindness, empathy, courage, integrity, optimism, perseverance, and love.
Have a fantastic weekend, and as always… GO PIRATES!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️
