Hello Pirate Family and Happy "April Showers Bring May Flowers" Friday!
Although it was so nice spending last week recharging our batteries, whether you had the chance to soak in some Florida sun or simply enjoy some of the warm days we had here at home, it's been great being back together with our students and staff as we look to get back into the swing of things. The month of April definitely brings a sense of renewal as we begin to see the world around us transform with trees budding, flowers blooming, grass growing and the sign that tells us that Captain Frosty's is now OPEN!!! 🍦♥️🍨🖤
As I shared in my most recent email, April also marks the beginning of the testing season and this week, our PCHS and Pathfinder 8th graders were deeply engaged in taking the SAT and PSAT assessments. The process to administer these assessments is not an easy task as it takes a lot of planning, organization and problem solving to help make this process go as smoothly as possible. I want to thank our staff, administrators, test coordinators, tech department and PTO's who helped do much of the "behind the scenes" work to make this week a success! GO PIRATES!!
I do want to make our school community aware of an unexpected disruption to our attendance & school lunch notification system (phone calls home that notify of absences and low lunch balances) that we were just made aware of. We were notified just two days ago that our current system, facilitated through EDUlink, is no longer in service, effective immediately, which is leaving us to scramble for an alternate service, which is definitely going to take us some time. In the time being, I encourage parents to continue checking their child's MiStar portal for updated attendance/lunch balance information. We apologize about this inconvenience and do appreciate your patience as we search to find an alternate service.
We are just a couple of weeks away from our 6th Annual Mattress Fundraiser, which will take place on Saturday, April 25 at the Complex Gym in Pathfinder from 10am - 5pm. This is a great opportunity to purchase a high quality new mattress at the cheapest price around, while helping support our amazing PCS music program. Please let your friends, family and neighbors know about this opportunity as we don't want them to miss out on getting a better night's sleep!

There are so many things that make PCS a great place for our kids to grow, learn and build the necessary skills to not only be successful here in school, but in life. Such an example is the continuous partnership we have created with our high school leadership class that supports the Ship Systems at our elementary schools through mentorship, leadership and service. True learning and growth comes when we can learn from one another, especially when students are learning from each other, which happened today at Country Elementary during the Monthly Matey meetings. In a world that at times can lack a sense of hope, we are so grateful to have this opportunity to witness and be reassured of the hope that lives in our students. Thank you as always for entrusting us with you children and the partnership we have as Pirates as the strong bond of community and unity truly sets our district apart.
Have a great weekend GO PIRATES!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️
