Good morning PIrate Family,

Over the past week, I have been contacted by several community members who have been asking about how they can help support our Pirate families who may be impacted by the possible suspension of the SNAP program, along with just asking about how to support families in general during the holiday season with families who may be facing food insecurities. First and foremost, I am proud to say that we here at Pinckney Community Schools have always been committed to supporting our fellow community members who may struggle with food insecurity through the weekly food distribution at our Farley Hill Food Pantry (Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.), along with our monthly mobile food pantry that occurs at the PCS transportation garage.

With that being said, we know that the demand & need will undoubtedly increase if/when the SNAP benefits are suspended, along with the natural increase in demand that occurs during the holidays. For those who are looking to offer additional support for our Pirate families, I ask that financial donations are made directly to the Farley Hill Food Pantry as the kind folks who volunteer their time to run this program will use the funds to purchase the specific food, along with maximizing every dollar they receive to get the biggest return of investment. Donations can be done directly from our PCS website by clicking on the "Donate" button in the top right corner of the page (please see pic below).

We also understand that our district resources most likely will not be able to meet the demand that may come from the possible SNAP suspension and in response, I have provided information below that contain additional resources for families to access that are available throughout Livingston County, along with ways to get involved and help. As I have shared before, our Pirate Community is extremely strong, especially when it comes to taking care of one another and the holiday season always provides an opportunity for us as Pirate Family to rise up and help support those who may be less fortunate and as always, we appreciate the honor to serve our greater community and the support we continue to receive.

Thank you and as always, GO PIRATES!!
